With so many great photographers to choose from in the Boston area, it can be confusing to figure out whose package system will work best for you and your family, especially if you're hiring someone for the first time. As most folks will notice, many other photographers typically have a model where they charge a session fee (separate from any photos) and then allow clients to view previews after a session. Based on those, they can decide what specific package they want to purchase, which can sometimes be only 5 images! I think this is fantastic business approach for photographers who hope to make the bulk or all of their income from photography alone. It's also the best approach for someone who feels they are only hiring someone to get a few framable shots vs. a collection that tells a story of the hour. What I value most about lifestyle photography is the story telling component of the work and making sure I capture as many small and "unposed" moments as possible that preserve the personalities and in between moments amongst family members that do not necessarily make it to wall frames. I want to deliver all those moments in addition to the handful of perfect and "wow" images that make up a full gallery. Plus, as someone who is obsessed with editing, it's painful to think about putting the effort into editing a full set only to have a client choose a handful of images. So I value delivering the full set (with all those not so perfect moments) that I hope will become more and more valuable with the passing of time.
